Eva Marie Everson taught Old Testament theology for six years at Life Training Center in Longwood, Florida and has written numerous articles for Crosswalk.com (including the acclaimed Falling Into The Bible series), and has had articles featured in numerous publications, including Christianity Today, Evangel, Christian Bride, Christian Retailing, The Godly BusinessWoman and Marriage Partnership magazines. Eva Marie has been interviewed by radio, television, newspaper, and Internet media outlets. In 2002Eva Marie was one of six Christian journalists sent to Israel for a special ten-day press tour.

Eva Marie’s work includes the award-winning titles Reflections of God's Holy Land; A Personal Journey Through Israel, Shadow of Dreams, Sex, Lies and the Media, and The Potluck Club series.

She is married, has four children and five grandchildren, and lives in Central Florida.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:


Shawn Grady signed with Bethany House Publishers in 2008. He was named “Most Promising New Writer” at the 39th Annual Mount Hermon Writers Conference. Through the Fire is his debut novel.

Shawn has served for over a decade as a firefighter and paramedic in northern Nevada. From fire engines and ambulances to tillered ladder trucks and helicopters, Shawn’s work environment has always been dynamic. The line of duty has carried him to a variety of locale, from high-rise fires in the city to the burning heavy timber of the eastern Sierras.

Shawn attended Point Loma Nazarene University as a Theology undergrad before shifting direction to acquire an Associate of Science degree in Fire Science Technology as well as Paramedic licensure through Truckee Meadows Community College.

Shawn currently lives in Reno, Nevada, just outside of Lake Tahoe. He enjoys spending time in the outdoors with his wife, three children and yellow Labrador.



ABOUT THE BOOK

Firefighting burns in Aidan O'Neill's blood. The son of a fireman, O'Neill has a sixth sense about fire and often takes dangerous risks. When one act of disobedience nearly gets a rookie killed, O'Neill is suspended. ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Tom Morrisey is a mountaineer, aviator, shipwreck diver, and explorer, who holds a Full Cave certification from the National Speleological Society - Cave Diving Section.

He has launched, edited or contributed to numerous national publications and is an award-winning adventure-travel writer. A popular speaker, he is also active in both evangelism and the arts. Morrisey earned an MFA in creative writing from Bowling Green State University, and his fiction has been featured in numerous anthologies and magazines.

A touch of Grace by Lauraine Snelling

Jonathan Gould finds himself in Blessing, ND. City slicker coming to the country to learn what real work is. Jonathan's father and the Bjorklund family have been friends for many years. Jonathan has only known the easy life. His dad wants him to get a taste of what it really means to work, so he sends him to North Dakota for the summer. Away from servants, cooks and the easy life Jonathan doesn't take long to fit into the family and country life. He learns to milk cows, garden, harness horses, speak Norwegian and even learn sign language. Actually he becomes quite fond of North Dakota and even a special young lady. I have loved Lauraine Snelling's Red River series. They have been my favorite I'm not partial; not related in any way and don't draw a paycheck from her (though not a bad idea). I just live in the area where the stories are stemmed from so we connect. Though I can't say I've been please with every one of Snelling's books this series and subsequence has been two thumbs up from me. I have all 17 of these books: RR of the North (6), Return to RR (3), Daughters of Blessing (4) and the Dakotah Treasures (4). And I can't wait for the next series: Home to Blessing comes out in the fall. She's not putting them out fast enough for me.

Lauraine Snelling fans...

A Dream Come True...

About two years ago, when Sara Lee Hoselton and Lauraine Snelling were brainstorming ideas for Blessing Square in Drayton, North Dakota, I jokingly—sort of—said, "What do you think about turning the Red River books into a play?” She had already written two musicals for other Drayton productions. She shook her head and demurred. "I've decided not to do anymore after the last one."

We left it there. A few weeks later, however, she presented an outline using the first three books of the Red River series: An Untamed Land, A New Day Rising, and Land to Call Home. That outline has turned into the "Bound for Blessing" play to be performed in Drayton, North Dakota during Riverfest in July.

"The day I was notified it was a go for this year, I was speechless, but not for long." Snelling says.

Summer Reading Fun

Presents: Ideas for Summer Reading Fun!

Increase interest in reading for fun. Instead of simply going through a book list, try a creative approach:

Interest-Related: Ask your children what kinds of activities, events, or games they’d love to do over summer break. For each item, find related reading materials. For instance, if a child wants to learn how to double-dutch jump rope, look for instructional books, fiction stories in which jump roping is the main event, and magazine articles about kids who compete in jump rope contests.

Goal-Oriented: Set up contests. Categories could include the highest number of books, widest variety of genres, most words read, strangest stories, etc.

For the whole family: Pick one of your children’s favorite cartoons or movies. Read the book version out loud as a family. At the end of the book, compare the literary and TV versions. Then write or draw a story of similar genre that uses includes your family as the characters. So if your child’s favorite story is a cartoon about sea creatures, make each family member a different fish in your own story.

The Little Man in the Map by E. Andrew Martonyi

Want a fun way to teach your child all 50 states and where they are located on the map. This book takes your child on travels across the US with the little Man In the Map, better known as MIM. Mim finds a chair to set on and a table with a feast spread out in the shapes of the states. This is the cutest book I've seen for learning the 50 states and their locations. MIM is made up from five of the states on the map and he comes to life to help your child learn the location of the other 45 states. I was really impressed with this book. It is done up in rhyme so the youngest student will stay involved and keeps the older student involved in trying to memorize the shape of each state and its location. It very cleverly breaks the US into 5 regions. The illustrations are also very well done. You child will look at the map of the US through different eyes after reading this book. I give it two thumbs up. Yes!!! Now is the time to be thinking about Christmas. Books are friends you child can keep forever and oh the knowledge that they'll learn from this one.

Surrender All by Joni Lamb

Joni writes her story and the story of others to help those that are struggling in life can see that you can change your life; maybe not overnight, but you can change-forever. In her book she shares with you true stories, personal examples and wise advise and encouragement to help motivate and inspire the reader to "Surrender All."

What does surrender look like? How does it help? where can it lead me? Joni answers these questions and more. Based on Proverbs 3:5 & 6. Joni is very genuine in her writings. She says, "When you Surrender All to the Lord amazing things happen. One challenge in Surrender is... you have to be patient and wait for God to work His plan on His time schedule. God will reward our faith and our Surrender." Surrender means: giving up control and for many this is scary and hard to do. We are human and have impaired vision. God doesn't reveal the entire path at once to us.

The path to Surrender is continual and eternal. The Key to Surrender is TRUST GOD. The hardest part of Surrender is not knowing what is going on. Areas of Surrender are:

Sometimes we must go through pain to get to God's glory. God will be with you even when your life is in the pits. If you run from God's will you will pay the price. In the end we must realize that if we want the Lord's full blessings we must fully and completely Surrender All. It is never too late to Surrender. Remember the answer is always: SURRENDER

I Believe Bunny by Tish Rabe

The I Believe Bunny is a cute book written in rhyme will catch any child's attention. Through animal characters the author teaches young children the importance of prayer. They see that God will answer prayer if we take the time to call upon Him when in time of trouble. Rabbit it the only one who hears mouse's cry for help has she is being swept down the river. Rabbit unsure that he can do anything starts praying asking God to send help. He realizes that with God's help he can be strong enough to help his mouse friend. The illustrations are very well done also, not bright very pastel, but well done. I think any young child would love to see this book under the Christmas tree. Siri Mitchell graduated from the University of Washington with a business degree and worked in various levels of government. As a military spouse, she has lived all over the world, including in Paris and Tokyo. Siri enjoys observing and learning from different cultures. She is fluent in French and loves sushi.
