For three days we'll be featuring Mr. Chris Wardle and his Tinfish Series for juveniles.   I was so excited to get in on this book series.  The first two books were featured in April.  I feel in love with Mr. Wardle's animal creatures and their antics.  The first two books hooked me and these last three are no different.  Today the feature is book #5...

I have to be honest I haven't had a chance to start this book yet so I can't post my review yet.  With Thanksgiving and company I am a little behind with my reading.  Probably if I had not had company I would be on schedule, but that isn't happening.  I will post my review as soon as I can get the book read. However, I'm sure that Mr. Ginger and the disappearing Fish will not be a disappointment to the Tinfish Series.  I've totally enjoyed this series.

About the Author
Chris Wardle holds a bachelor’s degree in physical geography as well as a Master’s degree for water supply in developing countries.

Over the last ten years Chris has travelled extensively in developing countries working on charity projects in poor communities. He has been able to draw on his numerous experiences to inspire his creative works, particularly living for long periods in communities with different cultures in Africa and Asia.

An orphaned kitten in Northern Uganda was the inspiration for Mr. Choli’s character in the Tinfish series. He now lives in the UK with Chris’s family (via a few months with a foster family in France to organise his European passport).

In this wonderful series by Mr. Wardle the animals are faced with environmental issues.  The animals learn to be resourceful with the resources that they have available to them.  In this particular book the animals are being faced with ocean current change.  Because of the warmer water fish is becoming scarce.  This resource is becoming insufficient for the community and an investigation team is sent out to see what can be done about the problem.  The reader will find how Mr. Wardle has the animals dealing with this problem. With environmental changes comes a habitat change the animals learn to deal with change and be resourceful.  Each animal has it's own personality and characteristic in this Tinfish series.  I have totally enjoyed this series.

Care for Creation by Christy Baldwin

What I liked about this picture book is that way the author teaches children to take care of and love and respect the earth using Scripture verses.  Several different Bible versions are used by the author no one set version. Ideas that are discussed are air and water pollution, water conservation, wind and solar energy, conserving electricity.  There is also a interactive guide of activities to use and do along with reading the book.  This book helps the reader to see the need to care for the world that God has created and given man to care for.
 

Care for Creation

Care for Creation helps children to foster an appreciation and respect for nature. They learn to protect the environment through recycling, home energy conservation and neighborhood clean-ups. Through accompanying Bible verses, they are encouraged to be responsible stewards of God's creation.

Writing has been a passion of Christy's since she was very young. As a child, she loved to write stories for her grandfather and poems just for fun. She lives in Mason, Ohio with her family and is active in church, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and volunteering with various organizations. Christy has a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Cedarville University and a master's degree in Special Education from the University of Scranton. She is a stay at home mom who enjoys spending time with her kids and being involved in their schools. Mr. Vinegar and the Frozen Sea by Chris Wardle

For three days we'll be featuring Mr. Chris Wardle and his Tinfish Series for juveniles.   I was so excited to get in on this book series.  The first two books were featured in April.  I feel in love with Mr. Wardle's animal creatures and their antics.  The first two books hooked me and these last three are no different.  Today the feature is book #3...

The animals in the Tinfish Series are all that is left on the earth as the humans have all died off.  Now the animals must face the environmental issues that arise.  It is so cute to see how Mr. Wardle makes these critters cope with the issues that lay in wait in their habitat.  

I'm sure any 2-6th grader would find an animal creature that lives in Daphne Woods and just fall in love with it.  Mr. Wardle has laid out in these last three books a nice page with animal names and descriptions.  The first two books didn't have this and I personally made a listing so I could keep them all straight.  The critters are unique and have their own characteristics.  I fell in love with them.

In this book the animals are trying to figure out the issue of getting fish to the community during the winter as the Sea is frozen.  The author is very creative in the way he relates each enviormental issues that the animal community face to his reader.

Featuring Chris Wardle's books

I had the privilege to review The Lighthouse of Mr. Tinfish and Mr. Choli's River Trip for author Chris Wardle.

These are the cutest easy chapter books. It is best that they are read in order so the story line can be followed. Animal fans between the ages of 6-12 would probably fall in love with the animals. The animals take on human characteristics there are no humans in the story. I really don't know how Mr. Wardle keeps them all straight. I had to make a list of what animals were who and what role they play in the community of animals just to keep it straight. The animals work together to build their community. Each animal has a definite characteristic and role; some more important than others just like in human life. I'm hooked now. I see there are more out in this series; oh, no! my book list is very growing. Children's books just find a way into my heart. I guess it's the teacher in me. Kids need good clean books to read and these books seem to fall into that category.

Mr. Choli's River Trip
'Mr. Choli's River Trip' is the second in a series of children's books which follows the humorous adventures of Mr. Tinfish the penguin and his friends as they try to cope with the impact of climatic change in their community. Mr. Choli is the head detective of the colony. He has gained his lofty reputation through his past adventures brought about by the changing climate. His expeditions have included finding a new home for his companions to escape the rising sea levels, the mystery of the disappearing river, and rescuing animals from Volcano Island. However, his biggest adventure is yet to come. This time he leads a boat trip to find new plants for the animals to eat as the plants at the colony are struggling to survive and grow in the increasingly hot conditions.
