Night Buddies and the Pineapple Cheesecake Scare by Sands Hetherington

A totally nocturnal story full of adventure of a boy, who can't sleep, and a bright red crocodile that is a detective.  There is all kinds of antics and gadgets they use to solve the mystery of the stolen pineapple cheesecake and get back home while time stands still.  Their adventure brings them into the path of many odd but fascinating characters.  Anyone interested in adventure, fantasy and wild and crazy antics will love to take the case with John and Cros.  Be on the look out for Hetherington's second book Night Buddies, Imposters, and One Far-Out Flying Machine. Sands Hetherington and his young son John developed the Crosley character over months of bedtime story give-and-take. Sands has been a resident of Greensboro, North Carolina, since 1941. He majored in history at the University of North Carolina(Chapel Hill) and has an M.F.A. in creative writing and an M.A. in English from UNC-Greensboro.

This sounds like a fun mystery. I loved learning that the author developed the characters with his son. How fun!
