Love Affair with Chocolate by Melanie Milburn

Back in December 2011 I posted my review on this adorable children's book.  Then in Jan. I received an email asking if I wanted to participate in this book's blog tour.  So I asked if the author would write a guest article to appear on my blog on Feb. 14th. I hope you enjoy this article and then you run out and buy the book and surprise your child after he/she gets home from school with the book and some chocolate (what else is there?)

Love Affair with Chocolate

My name is Melanie and I am a chocoholic!  Please do not judge me.  I know I am not alone.  I could give up chocolate but that would make me a quitter and my mamma did not raise a quitter.  I tried to start a support group for chocoholics…..but I just could not get anyone to join.  Do you know why?   Because… NO ONE WANTS TO QUIT!

My love affair with chocolate began later on in my life.  Don’t get me wrong….I have always loved chocolate, but when I was younger, being able to get into those skinny jeans was much more important to me.  I believed what my mother always told. me. “ A moment on the lips, a life time on the hips”.  Now that I am older, wiser, and larger,  I realize how short life is and my goals are a little more realistic.  I mean a chocolate a day?…..I can achieve that, and maybe even exceed my expectations and more!

I have never met a chocolate that I did not like.  Smooth and creamy centers, chewy, gooey centers, dark chocolate, milk chocolate,  chocolates with sweet surprises where you are not sure what you are enjoying, and of course, my favorites, the chocolates with nuts in them.  Forrest Gump’s mother really was right.  Life really is a lot like a box of chocolates.  You never know for sure what you are going to get and in my case, it really doesn’t matter.  It’s all gooood!

Throughout the years of my love affair with chocolate,  I have learned that it never disappoints.   It has never let me down.  It is never late for a meeting. It never, ever talks back to me or talks about me. And it never has other plans on a Saturday night.  Chocolate ….completes me!

So on this Valentine’s Day, embrace the chocolate without regret or guilt!  It is a gift from God that I do not intend to return or ever exchange.  It is always the right color and the right size.   As long as I do not hear a loud beeping sound when I back up, like you hear on heavy equipment, I will do my best to help the economy with daily chocolate purchases.   Enjoy all the chocolate you can ….while you can.   You can always buy a larger pair of jeans, but you can never replace the sweet friendship of a good piece of CHOCOLATE!
