Seeds of Beauty by Lakeysha-Marie Green

What’s the real secret to radiant beauty? It may come as no surprise that how we look on the outside is directly connected to the beauty deep inside us. What’s more, when we are burdened with the weight of low self-esteem, it’s all-too-visible in our physical appearance. That’s why a truly successful makeover begins by reconnecting with who we are at our very core—long before the swipe of the credit card or snip of the shears.
Now, fashion stylist Lakeysha-Marie Green has written a groundbreaking new guide to developing show-stopping beauty from the inside out. Inspirational and easy to use, The Seeds of Beauty seamlessly joins the key elements of inner beauty with savvy, expert style advice on making the most of your own physical attributes. Addressing both of these all-important parts of true beauty, this gorgeous resource comes together in one illuminating journey that looks as fabulous as it feels. In Part One, “Beauty Within,” you’ll learn to build a foundation of self-love, exploring subjects such as acknowledging your value, developing resilience and finding the courage to move forward. Part Two, “Beauty Reflected,” offers you practical advice on wardrobe fundamentals to bring out your beauty and create a winning style, such as working with your body type, selecting your best colors, choosing a swimsuit, and even building a shoe wardrobe. Unlike other fashion and beauty makeover books on the market, The Seeds of Beauty challenges you to discover just why you are uniquely beautiful on the inside. Once you have embraced your own brand of beauty, you’ll be truly motivated to master the building blocks to accentuate your appearance—and glow with your own exquisite beauty from the inside out.

the One-Day Way by Chantel Hobbs

The One-Day Way has inspired me. It's just want I needed. This book is a wonderful source of inspiration as well as information. Hobbs shares her heart with the reader in this book. I just don't know where to beginning. My doctor has been after me to lose a few pounds and I know I'd feel better if I did. So Hobbs is my inspiration here at the beginning of this new year. I've already programed myself to think one day at a time. In order to build a new life the author tells us we need to change our thinking. So, I'm trying to do just that. Discipline is needed in this new one-day way as well as commitment.
"Yesterday is irrelevant. Tomorrow is unimportant. Today is what matters"

Today and today only is what one needs to focus on. Tomorrow is a new day, another chance. Bite-by-bite the pounds can be taken off. This is not a diet it's a new way of thinking and a new lifestyle. Success is measured one good decision at a time, one pound at a time and one day at a time as we meet one bite size goal at a time says Hobbs. A 'maverick attitude' is what is needed in this new life changing adventure.

Hobbs book gives you the foundation materials needed to build a quality lifestyle. This book is the foundation and framework.
This book will help you change the way you look at:
  • faith: skepticism won't work
  • food: learn to control it
  • fitness: your body was made to move. So move!

  • Some things you'll find in the chapters of this book:
  • simple ways to make exercise fun
  • detailed meal plans
  • fitness tools needed to be fit for life
  • strength training workout - how to get maximum results using simple equipment
  • a contract
  • 2 - sets of 10 commandments: One for weight loss & One for getting fit
  • and more

Christmas Cookie Rules...

Christmas Cookie Rules...

1. If you eat a Christmas cookie fresh out of the oven, it has no calories because everyone knows that the first cookie is the test and thus calorie free.

2. If you drink a diet soda after eating your second cookie, it also has no calories because the diet soda cancels out the cookie calories.

3. If a friend comes over while you're making your Christmas cookies and needs to sample, you must sample with your friend. Because your friend's first cookie is calorie free, (rule #1) yours is also. It would be rude to let your friend sample alone and, being the friend that you are, that makes your cookie calorie free.

4. Any cookie calories consumed while walking around will fall to your feet and eventually fall off as you move. This is due to gravity and the density of the caloric mass.

5. Any calories consumed during the frosting of the Christmas cookies will be used up because it takes many calories to lick excess frosting from a knife without cutting your tongue.

6. Cookies colored red or green have very few calories. Red ones have three and green ones have five - one calorie for each letter. Make more red ones!

7. Cookies eaten while watching "Miracle on 34th Street" have no calories because they are part of the entertainment package and not part of one's personal fuel.

8. As always, cookie pieces contain no calories because the process of breaking causes calorie leakage.

9. Any cookies consumed from someone else's plate have no calories since the calories rightfully belong to the other person and will cling to their plate. We all know how calories like to CLING!

10. Any cookies consumed while feeling stressed have no calories because cookies used for medicinal purposes NEVER have calories. It's a rule!

So, go out and enjoy those Christmas Cookies - we only get them this time of year!

Home Spa Escapes by Kathy Hatch

My Review:
This is the neatest little book that I've seen. In it is all kinds of tips and homemade recipes for beauty products. If you are doing a spa theme ladies night out or have some teens that love to pamper themselves; have a sleepover and with a spa them they'll love it. This book is so neat for its ideas. There are also little inspirational items sprinkled in amongst the pages. Many great ideas on how to pamper yourself. It would be a cute gift book to give to your favorite beautician.

Short book synopsis:
Escape the expense of a formal spa. Escape the limitation of appointments. And escape to relaxing and energizing spa remedies that can be enjoyed in the comfort of a woman’s own home. With serene and inviting images from artist Kathy Hatch and a collection of soothing and effective spa treatments, women can nourish their minds, bodies, and souls. In just minutes, a woman can be

  • refreshed with facials using ingredients gathered in a moment’s notice
  • inspired with words of comfort, wisdom, and serenity
  • restored with bath soaks that ease tensions and aches

Any day is the perfect day to escape to the warmth, solace, balance, and the pure joy of being pampered.
