Scraps of Evidence by Barbara Cameron

Scraps of Evidence: Tess has taken some ribbing from her fellow officer, Logan, for her quilting hobby. He finds it hard to align the brisk professional officer he patrols with during the day with the one who quilts in her off-time. Besides, he's been trying to get to know her better and he'd like to be seeing her during those couple nights a week she spends with her quilting guild.

Then one afternoon Tess and Logan visit her aunt in the nursing home and she acts agitated when Tess covers her with the story quilt. Aunt Susan seems to be communicating a message to them about Tess's uncle. There's a story behind this quilt, they realize, one that may lead them to a serial killer. Will they have a chance to have a future together or will the killer choose Tess for his next victim before they find him?

A story of a quilt that involves a crime is what Scraps of Evidence in twisted around.  A book that is hard to put down right to the end of the book.  It is bound to hold your interest right to the last page.  I love the books in this series because they are stand alone books and you don't have to read them in order.  If you miss reading a book you don't miss out on anything.  If you like suspense then Barbara will keep you in suspense thought out the book.  It isn't really a cozy mystery.  I would say your average suspense book;  Not a blood and gore chiller-thriller.  There is humor sprinkled among the mystery and suspense of the quilt and the murder.  Whether you like the quilt aspect or the mystery aspect you can't go wrong reading Scraps of Evidence.

Barbara Cameron is the CBD, CBA, and  ECPA bestselling author of 24 books including the new Stitches in Times series for Abingdon Press. Barbara has written fiction and non-fiction books for  Abingdon Press, Thomas Nelson, Harlequin, and other publishers. She sold three films to HBO/Cinemax and is the first winner of the Romance Writers of America Golden Heart Award. Barbara's first two novellas won the 2nd and 3rd place in the Inspirational Readers Choice Contest from the Faith, Love, and Hope chapter of  RWA. Tempest's Course by Lynette Sowell

 photo tempestscourse_zps896c13f4.jpg
A Quilts of Love book.

Kelly Frost, a textiles conservator, is invited to the Massachusetts coastal city of New Bedford to restore a 150-year-old Mariner’s Compass quilt. But there is one stipulation: she must live and work in Gray House, a former whaling captain’s home, where the quilt is stored. There she meets Army veteran Tom Pereira, the caretaker of Gray House, whose heart seems as hard as the rocky Massachusetts coastline.

Over the long-lit months as Kelly works to restore the quilt, she and Tom grow closer. And as she reads stories in a daily journal penned by Mary Gray, she learns the secrets of the quilt and Mary’s own sad tale of regret. Then Tom learns secrets of his own family’s past, and both Tom and Kelly learn they are tied to Gray House in ways they never imagined.

For Ransom by Sarah McClain

“For Ransom” is nothing short of spectacular. “For Ransom” is character gripping, bittersweet and touching; its suspenseful plot leaves the reader wanting more.

Here’s a brief glimpse into the mind of Sarah McClain and her new novel, “For Ransom”.

Hailey always finds herself in the London spotlight, due to her father’s political status. Her father, Jack, has been a prominent member of the political circle since Hailey was a little girl. Parties, debates, fundraisers, events, and money seem to sum up the family.

Jack and her mother, Anne, don’t speak much anymore. Jack focuses on money and work and power over his family. Love once lived in their house. Hailey remembers laughter and smiles, but those have been replaced with tears and avoiding looks.

At only 18, Hailey’s been through more than your average teenager; numerous threats on her life, the death of her best friend, a family that no longer seems to be whole, constantly looking over her shoulder, and a security team following her around everywhere. However, with political power, comes personal danger and a security team was necessary. Eli has been head of the security team for some time now. His devotion for the family has grown deeper since he fell in love with Hailey. Her feelings were mutual, but both keep their love a secret for fear of Jack and his reaction.

And now, to top it off, Hailey’s been kidnapped! A ransom as been demanded and her life hangs in the balance.

Will her mother and father come together to pay this ransom and bring her home? Will Eli be able to find her before it’s too late?

Will the kidnappers follow through or simply take the money without freeing Hailey?

Will Hailey lose her faith or even her life in the process?

Will a ransom save her life?

“For Ransom” can be pre-ordered from your local bookstore, or your favorite online retailer. The book will be in stores August 6, 2013.

Dolled Up To Die by Lorena McCourtney

her short stint as an assistant private investigator: always find out if the victims actually have human DNA. Because these three do not.

But who would shoot this nice lady’s dolls? What possible reason could the shooter have? And then there’s the startling discovery of another victim, who definitely does have human DNA . . .

With tension that is matched only by humor, Dolled Up to Die is the exciting second book in Lorena McCourtney’s The Cate Kinkaid Files. Mystery fans won’t find a place to stop and take a breath in this fast-paced and intriguing tale.

Those who touch the Stone can see into the spiritual world: angelic warriors, treacherous demons, and the blue threads of light that signal the presence of believers in communion with God.

By following the blue beam radiating from those closest to God, the Clan plans to locate His most passionate followers and destroy them.

Jagger quickly realizes his high-tech gadgetry and training are no match for these merciless immortals. But how can he defeat an enemy who hunts believers through their prayers . . . and won’t stop until they’ve annihilated all those close to Him?

Memory of Murder by Ramona Richards

This week, the
Christian Fiction Blog Alliance
is introducing
Memory of Murder
Love-Inspired Suspense
by
Ramona Richards

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

A word from Ramona:

The hardest biographical sketch to write is always your own, whether or not you’re a writer by profession. You can’t decide what to throw in, what to leave out, and whether or not you should list strengths and flaws, or just strengths.

I like writing and telling stories so much that I once tried to live out a few. After getting a master’s in English, I went on to be the seneschale of my local Society for Creative Anachronism. I had a rocky start, but I did get better. (Robin Hood, eat your heart out.)

People often ask members of the SCA, “Are you in a play?” so I thought it would be fun to do that, too. For seven years, I produced and performed in shows staged by Nashville’s Circle Players.

Although I’m single now, I married in 1982 and in 1987 had Rachel. She’s a cutie. Severely disabled, she’s the heroine of many an article for Special Ed Today magazine. Rachel's nurse, Phyllis, is the real life heroine of “An Act of Desperation,” which I sold to Chicken Soup for the Caregiver’s Soul.

I’m not really a complex person, and my dreams are fairly straightforward: sell books, have enough money to pay the bills and travel a bit, and settle into a cottage. In early 2006, I bought the cottage, which is now more or less swamped by books and DVDs. I write at night (I’m a lifelong night owl), and I occasionally escape by scuba diving, hiking, dancing, and going to movies and bookstores.

I’ve gone to the same church since 1993, and I even sing in the choir. It’s a small but awesome church. I’m no angel, although occasionally I play one in the backyard.

I like staying busy. Life is too short not to follow your dreams.

ABOUT THE BOOK

THE SECRETS OF HER PAST COULD IMPERIL HER FUTURE

Lindsey Presley certainly can't imagine why anyone would want her dead-though she knows she wouldn't be alive today if not for the local cop who saved her from two murder attempts. Deputy Jeff Gage has worked difficult cases, but with only Lindsey's fractured memories of a broken past to guide him, this is by far his most challenging.

For Lindsey, fleeing the town she has come to call home is unthinkable. Separately, they are vulnerable, but together, Jeff and Lindsey just may stand a chance of catching a ruthless killer.
