Oscar's Adventures in the Woods by Pam Stone
Oscar, the turtle, is bound to capture any child's heart as he wonders off away from his owner and discovers a whole new world that was meant for a turtle in the wild. While Oscar grew up as a pet and only knowing the life of an aquarium, he quickly learns that he must adapt to his natural surroundings to survive the harsh winter that lays ahead. I think adventurous little boys would truly love this adventure in the woods along side of Oscar. Oscar made his way into my heart as I'm sure he will your child's. This is a very fun loving adventure. After reading this book with your child you could move into the subject of leaving animals in their natural habitat discussion. The illustrations are hand sketched and originals, very well done.
