Ready-Made Family by Cheryl Wyatt

Oh, boy will you fall in love with the soldiers that Cheryl Wyatt brings to life in her Wings of Refuge series. This is my first book to read in this series and now I'm hooked. I'm going to have to go back and get my hands on some of the earlier titles in this series. I already know of two that I need to get my hands on. In this book Ben Dillinger, Navy pararescue jumper is smitten by young Reece North, who will also steal your heart. She is a unconditional loving, dependent little girl that will steal your heart. Reece's Pieces, affectionately called by her mother, will wiggle her way into your heart as quick as she did Ben's. Ben Dillinger is a muscular man, steady and strong, physically and spiritually, and sure of himself. Admired by everyone that he meets. Unlike Reece's mother, Amelia Grace North, who is very unsure of herself and needs to prove she can be the mother and provider that Reece needs. Amelia has had some tough blows in her life that has left her untrusting, unbelieving and non-praying. She has a lazy eye which causes her to be self-conscious. She has a very distorted view of God after being shunned by her parents and church family for making some wrong choices in life. A time when she needs God most she must prove to others that she can make it on her own, BUT can she? Will she be able to find a Refuge in Refuge, IL? Amelia's father is a very stubborn, grumpy, curmudgeon, irrational, bitter man full of tenacity and very much against other races. You'll also fall in love with Celia as she adds humor and life to Amelia. Hutton, Ben's brother, is also a special person we'll grow to love as he has some special needs. I don't think you'll be disappointed in this book if you read it. You'll grow to love the characters and maybe even find that Refuge isn't a bad place to take up your wings.
