Teaser Tuesday ~ Forever Hilltop 2-in-1

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along, so I thought I would play for fun! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Since this book is a 2-in-1 you are going to get a double teaser today.  ;P

Eggs in coffee, fish soaked in lye-and yet these were some of the best cooks he'd ever come across.  And there were all the foreign sounding foods he'd heard bantered about for the last few weeks-rommegrot, lefse, krumkake, egg and anchovy sandwiches, and perhaps the oddest of all, fish balls-made like meatballs-in a can.  From now on it might be wise to just eat and not ask too much about the sources of these delicious flavors.
(~p.230 from An Unlikely Blessing by Judy Baer)

Gandy looked at him as if he'd lost his mind.  "You don't lock your car to  keep people from taking something out, you lock your car to keep people from putting something in."  She picked up the zucchini and swung it around like a club.  "You leave that van open and the whole thing will be filled with these and tomatoes too.  Everyone who has a garden will be handing out vegetables.  You, being the pastor, will be their first choice to 'gift' with their excess."  She chewed on the corner of her lip as she pondered this.  "Unless your really like zucchini bread.  Then take it all, bake it up and buy a new freezer to store it in."

This is not something I would have picked up before seeing this teaser. I love the quote from 347 about gardeners giving away their veg and I often find it amusing when visiting a friend with an alotment I always come back with carrier bags full of veg!

I have decided to film my TT this week! You can check it out here: http://bit.ly/JP2DxD
